Hoosiers Trailer

This was a great movie and it was a movie I have never seen before. Sports movies have always been my favorite kind of movies so this made me interested in watching it. My teacher (Mr. Muench) requested it to me and was excited for me to watch it. I was able to watch this movie on my TV (Bought it). It was a great way to spend my Saturday night. The movie was entertaining, suspenseful, and exciting throughout this whole film. This is an old movie so the filming and photography wasn't as updated as it is today with the movies coming out in 2018. The movie was still a great film and it was interesting to see how basketball was back then to how basketball is developed and played now. To give you a little insight to this movie, this movie was about a new coach coming to coach a high school basketball team that contained only seven players. Im not going to give away the end but this basketball team surprises every citizen that lives in the state of Indiana.

I always feel that sports movies are the best genre of movies because usually these teams start out going through lots of controversy and obstacles to become a very successful and gain a winning culture (on and off the field). For example, in this movie the team only started out with five basketball players with no subs. If one basketball player got hurt they would have to forfeit the game. Also, this team was part of a small high school where their basketball team has never been very good. Everyone was counting them out before they had even played their first basketball game. The new coach built practices around tough drills that were dreadful for the players because even though he had five players he wanted them to be in the best shape they could be in. I love tough coaches like that because it really brings out the true character in their players. It was fun to watch an old movie like this that contains all the content that I love to see in movies. It was great to watch.

I want to shift gears and talk more about the filming involved with this movie. I thought the filming was interesting because of all the different angles that occurred during the actual film. Especially during basketball games because they filmed the ball dribbling, ball going up into air, the ball going through the basketball, crowds reactions, etc. I was thoroughly impressed with the camera crew involved with this film. Also, this movie contained multiple scenes that showed the "rule-of-thirds". The "rule-of-thirds was often exemplified when the basketball was being dribbled. Every game was very suspenseful because every game counted in terms of being able to make it to that championship game. The teamwork and perseverance really separated this movie from the other movies I have seen. A basketball team that consists of seven players is unheard of the our world today. Nowadays basketball teams contain at least thirteen to fifteen players which they cut the rest who don't make it. It was amazing to see how this team beat all the odds that came across them to have a successful season.

All in all, I know when a movie is great when I feel "chills" throughout my whole body during a scene in a movie. Im not going to give away that moment but it was truly inspiring and fascinating to see such a little program and team accomplish such big things. I would recommend this movie to anybody whole likes sports of course and to anybody who likes to watch true stories that contain incredible experiences. This movie is nothing but entertainment and suspense overcoming obstacles and finding their opportunity to shine. This movie is definitely going to be on my top five favorite movies that I have ever watched. I am very happy that Mr. Muench recommended this movie to me and I encourage others to watch it as well because it will keep you engaged and emotional engaged as well.
